Accidental landlords must know their stuff

There has been a rise in the last few years in the number of people who are being forced to rent out their home when they move to a new house because they cannot sell it due to a lack of buyers in the market.

According to one property expert, it is vital for anyone looking to move into this venture to make sure that they know what they are doing.

Marie Parris, managing director of George Ellis Property Services, said: "As landlords there are myriad laws, regulations and guidelines we need to adhere to. Accidental landlords are likely not to have that knowledge, and you tend to find it's those landlords who are getting into problems."

She also went on to say that it is important to speak to a landlords association to make sure that anyone moving into this market is prepared.

Last week, Total Landlord Insurance reported that poor communication often causes friction between landlords and their tenants.ADNFCR-1222-ID-801353283-ADNFCR
